Rampur Police Seize 1,500 Bottles of Cough Syrup, Three Arrested
Rampur police in Subarnapur district seized 1,500 bottles of cough syrup from a private bus travelling from Bhubaneswar to Dunguripali.
Acting on a tip-off, the bus was intercepted near Rampur Women’s College, and a search was conducted in the presence of a magistrate.
Three individuals — Umesh Sahu of Kandhumunda village (under Gaisilet police station), Ambit Nayak of Balangir, and Ashish Barge — were arrested in connection with the illegal transport.
Police confirmed that the suspects are being interrogated to trace the supply chain and uncover further details about the smuggling operation.
Authorities emphasised that the crackdown reflects ongoing vigilance against drug trafficking in Odisha, where cough syrup is often misused as an intoxicant.
