Rama Devi University Unveils Cross-Cultural Tribute to Women’s Legacy

Bhubaneswar, August 25 (OT Webdesk)— Rama Devi Women’s University (RDWU) celebrated a landmark moment with the launch of Women of Power: A Tale of Two Civilisations (India & Greece), a book co-authored by Professor Sucheta Priyabadini and Dr. Lopamudra Priyadarshini.

Sponsored by the Arohan Trust and chaired by Swopnendu Mohanti, the book explores the enduring influence of women across Indian and Greek civilisations—from mythological goddesses to modern reformers and democratic leaders.

The ceremonial launch featured distinguished guests, including Aliki Koutsomitopoulou, Ambassador of Greece to India, and Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida.

Ambassador Koutsomitopoulou hailed the book as “a tribute to the spirit of women who carry the weight of history and inspire future generations.” Deputy CM Parida emphasised the need to transform women’s empowerment from aspiration to reality.

The event began with floral tributes to Maa Rama Devi and a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.

Professor Priyabadini delivered the welcome address, followed by remarks from Registrar Manaswini Sahu and Vice Chancellor Prof. Chandi Charan Rath. Dr. Priyadarshini concluded the program with a heartfelt vote of thanks. Coordination was led by Jyotatsini Jajnaseni from RDWU’s MRDC.

The book stands as a testament to the shared cultural reverence for women and their transformative roles in shaping societies across time and geography.
