Rajinikanth’s Coolie Smashes Box Office Records, Crosses Rs 250 Crore Worldwide in Just Two Days
(OT webdesk)Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest release Coolie has stormed the global box office, raking in over Rs 250 crore within just two days of its release.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film capitalised on the Independence Day holiday, drawing massive crowds across India and overseas.
Despite the typical second-day dip seen in South Indian cinema, Coolie held strong with a mere 17% drop, earning Rs 118.50 crore net (Rs 145 crore gross) domestically.
Internationally, it shattered records by grossing $8.75 million on day one and crossing $13 million (Rs 110 crore) in two days.
The film has already outperformed the lifetime earnings of Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi and Suriya’s Good Bad Ugly, establishing itself as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025.
Industry analysts predict Coolie could reach Rs 400 crore by the weekend and potentially challenge Rajinikanth’s own record of Rs 691 crore set by 2.0.
Featuring a star-studded ensemble including Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, and a cameo by Aamir Khan, Coolie is poised to become a landmark in Tamil cinema.
