Bhubaneswar, June 17(OT Webdesk): In a move aimed at easing congestion during redevelopment at New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS), Indian Railways has announced that the Puri–New Delhi Purushottam Express (12801/12802) will now operate from Anand Vihar Terminal (ANVT) effective June 12, 2025.
The change affects thousands of travellers commuting between Odisha and the national capital.
While the arrival time in Delhi has been advanced to 3:50 AM, the departure has been slightly delayed to 10:50 PM. Notably, the train’s 33-stop route remains unchanged, with key halts at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Tatanagar, and Prayagraj.
This rerouting follows Indian Railways’ broader strategy to decongest NDLS—currently handling close to 5 lakh passengers daily—during a major infrastructure overhaul designed to boost efficiency, safety, and train turnaround times.
In addition to the Purushottam Express, several other trains have been reassigned:
- New Delhi–New Jalpaiguri Superfast → Anand Vihar
- New Delhi–Amritsar/Jalandhar Express → Old Delhi Junction
- Saharsa–Amritsar Express → Delhi Junction
- New Delhi–Mumbai Duronto Express → Hazrat Nizamuddin
Passengers are being informed through SMS alerts, digital displays, and public announcements.
Authorities advise travellers to double-check terminal details when planning their journeys.
