Puri police nabs mentally unsound person for issuing threat to Jagannnath temple

Puri, Aug 13 (UNI) Puri police had a tough time dealing with an alleged terrorist threat to destroy the Sri Jagannath temple.

A warning was found scribbled on the wall of Budhima Thakurani, a small temple located within the Parikrama corridor of the Sri Jagannath temple, stating that the terrorists will destroy the temple, and a couple of phone numbers were given.

Police swung into action and began an investigation. They examined the CCTV footage of the area and found a person writing on the wall.

Later, the person was identified as Raghunath Sahu (65) of Gadishagada village under the Kanas block of Puri district.

He was spotted in the town and rounded up by the police.

During questioning police found that the person is mentally unstable. Police contacted his family members. They informed about the mental illness history of Sahu, who had created many nuisances earlier.
He has been absconding from the village for a couple of days and loitering in Puri, they said.

Police persuaded Raghunath to recreate the writing on a wall, the contents he had scribbled on the temple wall.

He was sent to the district headquarters hospital to determine his mental status. If found sound, he would be questioned again, Puri police superintendent Pinak Mishra told the media today.
