Puri Lawyers Protest Court Relocation, Block Highway Near Malatipatapur
Puri witnessed major disruption on Thursday as members of the local Bar Association staged a protest against the proposed relocation of all courts to the Balukhanda Sanctuary area.
The lawyers blocked the National Highway near Malatipatapur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., causing traffic snarls and inconvenience to commuters.
The Bar Association argued that shifting the courts would not only inconvenience lawyers but also lakhs of people who depend on easy access to judicial services.
They stressed that the issue goes beyond professional concerns, directly affecting public convenience and justice delivery.
The protest coincided with the ongoing Assembly session, with lawyers urging legislators to take up the matter for serious discussion.
Association leaders reiterated that relocating the courts would create unnecessary hardship and demanded that the plan be reconsidered in the interest of the wider public.
