Puri King Warns Against Untimely Rath Yatra Abroad | Jagannath Traditions Must Be Preserved
Bhubaneswar, Jan 4: Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb has voiced strong concern over ISKCON’s practice of conducting daily Rath Yatras abroad, calling it a serious deviation from Jagannath traditions.
Speaking at the Shree Jagannath Chintan O Chetana programme, the Puri King emphasised that scriptures clearly prescribe the Nabadinatmaka Rath Yatra only on Ashadha Shukla Dwitiya.
“The tradition allows Lord Jagannath to come out only twice a year. Without Mahaprabhu’s order, we cannot take the chariot out,” he stressed.
Maharaja reminded devotees that the rules laid down by Maharshi Veda Vyasa must be obeyed without alteration, urging followers to preserve the sanctity of rituals and respect the spiritual discipline.
His remarks underline the importance of safeguarding Jagannath culture in its original form, cautioning against altering sacred practices for convenience or popularity abroad.
