Puri Jagannath Temple Unveils Kartika Month Schedule: Early Darshan, Sacred Beshas, and Devotee-Centric Reforms
PURI, — In a landmark meeting chaired by SJTA Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, the Chhatisa Nijog has finalized the comprehensive schedule and reforms for the sacred Kartika month at the Shri Jagannath Temple. From October 3 to November 5, the temple will open its Lion Gate daily at 4 AM, offering early darshan to thousands of devotees.
The spiritual itinerary includes the revered Radha Damodar Besa (6:30–7:30 AM) and Bali Dhupa offerings (10–10:30 AM). A series of special beshas will adorn the deities on key dates, culminating in the majestic Suna Besa on November 5.
Administrative reforms were also greenlit, including:
- Retrieval of silver bricks from EMA Math
- SOPs for inclusive darshan for differently-abled devotees
- Mobile phone restrictions extended to temple servitors
- Weekly coordination meetings to ensure ritual discipline
Dr. Padhee emphasized the temple’s commitment to preserving tradition while enhancing accessibility and operational efficiency. With preparations underway, Puri is poised to welcome a spiritually charged Kartika Brata season.
