Puri Gears Up for President Droupadi Murmu’s Visit with Tight Security
Puri is witnessing heightened security arrangements ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s two-day visit on February 3–4.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Satyajit Naik conducted a final review of security and traffic measures, focusing on the Shree Jagannath Temple and VVIP motorcade routes.
A total of 30 platoons of police have been deployed across the city, supervised by six SP-rank officers, with support from Additional SPs, DSPs, Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and ASIs. Specialised units are also on high alert to ensure smooth conduct of the visit.
Traffic diversion plans and temporary restrictions near the Shree Jagannath Temple have been finalised to balance VVIP movement with minimal inconvenience to devotees.
The IGP directed officials to maintain vigilance, coordination, and responsiveness throughout the visit.
Meanwhile, the Puri District Police has appealed to citizens to cooperate with the arrangements and follow advisories for a safe and seamless experience during the President’s stay.
