President Murmu’s Historic Address Marks a Golden Chapter in Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: In a landmark moment for Odisha’s democratic journey, President Droupadi Murmu will become the first President of independent India to address the Odisha Legislative Assembly

Scheduled for November 27, 2025, her visit is being hailed as a milestone in the state’s legislative legacy.

Arriving at the Assembly premises at 4:20 PM, President Murmu will be accorded a Guard of Honour before entering the House to the national anthem. Her speech, beginning at 4:30 PM, is expected to last around 30 minutes, focusing on disciplined parliamentary procedures and the responsibilities of legislators.

Special seating arrangements have been made near the Speaker’s chair for the President, Governor, and Speaker. The Assembly premises have been adorned with flowers and colourful lights, reflecting the enthusiasm of both ruling and opposition parties.

Following her address, President Murmu will pose for a group photograph with House members and revisit Room No. 11, where she once served as Transport Minister in the BJP-BJD alliance government (2000–2004).

The chamber has been specially decorated to revive her memories. She will also interact with Assembly staff in courtesy discussions.

Her Odisha itinerary includes arrival via a special Indian Air Force aircraft at Biju Patnaik International Airport, inauguration of the newly constructed Kalinga Guest House at Raj Bhavan, and an overnight stay at Raj Bhavan with a dinner hosted by the Governor. She is scheduled to depart the next morning at 9:35 AM.

This historic occasion is being viewed as a new height for Odisha’s democratic glory, bringing together current and former MLAs, MPs, ministers, and senior officials to witness the President’s landmark address.
