President Murmu Reaffirms Constitutional Ideals at Samvidhan Sadan Celebration

New Delhi, November 26, 2025 — President Droupadi Murmu graced the Constitution Day celebration at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, underscoring the enduring relevance of India’s parliamentary system and the guiding spirit of the Constitution.

Recalling the government’s decision in 2015 to mark November 26 annually as Constitution Day during Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary, the President emphasised that the observance has become a meaningful tradition.

It allows citizens, especially youth, to reaffirm respect for the Constitution and deepen awareness of its ideals.

Highlighting the document’s soul — social, economic, and political justice alongside liberty, equality, and fraternity — Murmu expressed satisfaction that Parliament has worked to actualise these visions.

She noted India’s progress toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy, with nearly 250 million people lifted out of poverty.

The President described the Constitution as a source of national pride, steering India away from colonial legacies. She cited recent justice‑oriented reforms such as the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.

Murmu also praised the growing participation of women voters and the contributions of youth, farmers, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and disadvantaged groups in strengthening democracy from the Panchayat to Parliament.

Concluding her address, she expressed confidence that under Parliament’s guidance, India will fulfil its resolve to become a developed nation.
