President Droupadi Murmu’s Historic Odisha Assembly Address Inspires Tribal Empowerment and Development Vision

In a landmark moment for Odisha’s democratic history, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the Odisha Legislative Assembly for the first time in its 75-year existence.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended a heartfelt welcome, describing the day as “inscribed in golden letters” and celebrating Murmu’s journey from Uparbeda village in Mayurbhanj district to the nation’s highest office.

Majhi highlighted Murmu’s perseverance through humble beginnings, recalling her struggles as a student gathering firewood while pursuing education.

He praised her deep connection to her roots and her contributions to Mayurbhanj’s development, noting that she has never forgotten her birthplace or her first workplace.

The Chief Minister emphasised Murmu’s distinguished career, including her recognition as the first woman Best Legislator in the Odisha Assembly, her ministerial roles in fisheries, animal husbandry, commerce, and transport, and her tenure as Jharkhand’s longest-serving Governor.

Majhi linked her presence to the empowering spirit of the Indian Constitution, especially poignant after Constitution Day celebrations.

He assured that under her guidance, Odisha’s government would continue to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas, focusing on transparent and progressive governance.

Concluding his address, Majhi envisioned a prosperous Odisha by 2036, contributing to a developed India (Viksit Bharat) by 2047.

The event ended with prayers to Lord Jagannath and chants of “Jai Hind” and “Bande Utkal Janani,” marking the occasion as a source of inspiration for 4.5 crore Odias.
