President Droupadi Murmu to visit Odisha from February 2 to 7
Bhubaneswar, Jan 23 (UNI) President Droupadi Murmu will be on a six-day visit to Odisha from February 2 to February 7, during which she will attend and participate in various programmes across the state, official sources said.
The President will arrive in Bhubaneswar on the evening of February 2 and, after courtesy meetings at Lok Bhavan, will stay overnight in the capital.
On the morning of February 3, she will visit Jajpur to offer prayers at the Biraja Temple and perform rituals at Navi Gaya.
Later in the afternoon, she will proceed to Balasore to attend the 12th Convocation Ceremony of Fakir Mohan University.
In the evening, she will travel to Puri for darshan at the Shree Jagannath Temple, perform aarti, and offer pindadaan.
On February 4, the President will visit Mayurbhanj district, where she will inaugurate a holiday home at Mahuldiha in Rairangpur and visit a Girls’ Higher Secondary School run by the Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste Development Department.
She will also unveil the statue of Bhanjbir Sunaram Soren and inaugurate a sports complex at Baidpur. In the afternoon, she will lay foundation stones and inaugurate several other development projects at Rairangpur.
On February 5, the President will attend a special programme at the Rairangpur Jagannath Temple in the morning and visit Similipal in the afternoon.
On the morning of February 6, she will interact with women and tribal youth groups in Mayurbhanj.
Later in the afternoon, she will return to Bhubaneswar to attend the “Black Swan Summit India,” jointly organised by the Government of Odisha and the Global Finance Technology Network.
On February 7, President Murmu is scheduled to depart from Bhubaneswar Airport for Chhattisgarh.
Meanwhile, a state-level preparatory meeting was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anu Garg to ensure the smooth conduct of all activities related to the President’s visit.
The Chief Secretary directed all departmental secretaries, district collectors, and superintendents of police to personally monitor arrangements to ensure an error-free visit.
Detailed discussions were held on airport reception and farewell arrangements, temporary halts, security measures, fire safety at programme venues, uninterrupted power supply, stage arrangements, and barricading.
A control room will be operated by the Home Department for coordination.
Among those present at the meeting were Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania, Director General of Fire Services Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi, and Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Administrator of Shree Mandir Arabinda Kumar Padhi, along with senior secretaries and commissioners.
Collectors and Superintendents of Police from Jajpur, Balasore, Puri, and Mayurbhanj districts joined the meeting virtually and briefed officials on preparedness.
