President Droupadi Murmu Likely to Visit Odisha in Nov, May Address Winter Assembly Session
Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu is expected to visit Odisha in late November, marking her first appearance at the State Assembly since assuming office.
Law and Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan confirmed the possibility, noting that while Rashtrapati Bhavan has yet to release an official itinerary, preparations are already underway.
The Odisha government has proposed that President Murmu address the winter session of the Legislative Assembly. If confirmed, this would be a momentous occasion, reconnecting her with the very chamber where she once served as Minister of Commerce and Transport and MLA from Rairangpur nearly two decades ago.
Renovation work has begun in the Assembly, particularly in the chamber traditionally used by the President, reflecting the emotional and historical significance of the visit. Security and logistical coordination are also in progress.
President Murmu last visited Odisha in July 2025, attending convocations at AIIMS Bhubaneswar and Ravenshaw University. Her return to the Assembly would symbolise a full-circle moment in her public service journey.
