Preparatory Meet Sets Stage for Global Symposium on Shree Anna & Women Farmers

Bhubaneswar, October 22, 2025 — The Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department convened a high-level preparatory meeting today to finalise arrangements for the upcoming International Symposium on Shree Anna & Woman Farmer 2025, scheduled for November 10–11.

This year’s theme, “International Symposium on Shree Anna & Women’s Participation in Agricultural Heritage,” places women farmers at the forefront of millet-based agricultural innovation and heritage preservation.

The event will spotlight their equal role in sustaining traditional food systems and driving climate-resilient farming.

Chaired by Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, the Monitoring Committee reviewed logistics, programming, and stakeholder engagement. The symposium will be inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister and conclude with a valedictory ceremony graced by His Excellency the Governor.

Participants will include leading agriculturists, scientists, women agri-preneurs, NGOs, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and global institutions such as FAO, MSSRF, IFPRI, and SEWA. Farmers, entrepreneurs, and students are also expected to attend in large numbers.

Adding a cultural touch, this year’s mascot will don the iconic Phuta Saree of Mayurbhanj, symbolising Odisha’s rich textile heritage.

Senior officials, including Director of Agriculture Shubham Saxena and OUAT Dean Dr. Prasannajit Mishra emphasised the importance of inclusive planning and global collaboration to ensure the symposium’s success.
