Police Maoists Exchange Fire In Nuapada District

Nuapada (Orissa Today) May 20: Based on intelligence inputs, an operation was launched across Odisha Chattisgarh border. Around 3am on Monday in Sunabeda forest, near Shivanarayanpur (Komna PS) naxals came into contact with SOG personnel.

In exchange of fire one SOG jawan has sustained bullet injuries and taken to Raipur for treatment and presently is out of danger.

Another team present in separate hilly features of the area also started search operation in early morning. This team noticed 10-12 naxals at around 8 AM some 2-3 km from first EoF. There was again exchange of fire, but taking advantage of dense forest, Naxals could manage to escape. In second EOF, bullet injuries to a few naxals are strongly suspected.

During search, which is still continuing, 10 IED, one loaded pistol, and other incriminating articles have been recovered so far, from this seemingly transit hideout. Further search operations are continuing in that axis.

A hard-core Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire during a search operation in Tetrai forest of Sukhma district. The search operation is continuing on the suspicion that the Maoists are hiding.

According to the information of Sukma SP Kiran Chouhan, the district police and DRG Jawan raided the Tolnai forest after receiving information from a special source. It is said that the details will be given after the search operation.

At least nine Maoists including two women and seven men surrendered before police in Odisha’s Boudh district on May 8. As per sources, these Maoists are from KKBN Mao Division and hail from Mullera area of Chhattisgarh.
