Police Arrest Prime Accused in Subarnapur Tribal Woman Misconduct Case

Birmaharajpur police have arrested the prime accused in a shocking case of misconduct and robbery against a tribal woman in Subarnapur district.

The incident occurred on November 6, 2025, near Harihar Jore (Thenga Dam), when the accused, identified as Prashant Kamp of Brahmanipali village, along with an associate, allegedly misbehaved with the woman while intoxicated.

According to reports, the duo forced the woman outside her home, chased her when she tried to escape, dragged her, and snatched her mobile phone. They also threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident.

Despite the gravity of the case, police initially failed to act for seven days. The victim approached the station again, and after local media coverage highlighted the matter, swift action followed.

Under the supervision of IIC Sarangadhar Panigrahi, officers arrested Prashant and recovered the stolen mobile phone.

He was produced in court today, while the search continues for the other accused.

Authorities stressed that the arrest underscores the importance of timely intervention and accountability, assuring that further investigation will ensure justice for the victim.
