PM Modi Pays Tribute to Biju Patnaik on 110th Birth Anniversary
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid homage to legendary leader Biju Patnaik on his 110th birth anniversary, recalling his lifelong dedication to Odisha’s progress and his visionary contributions to India’s development.
Biju Patnaik, who twice served as Chief Minister of Odisha, is remembered for spearheading transformative projects such as Paradip Port and industrial hubs in Choudwar and Barbil.
He also championed women’s empowerment by introducing reservations for women in local governance, a progressive step that continues to inspire.
His legacy extended beyond India’s borders. Recognised as a global statesman, Patnaik’s mortal remains were draped in the national flags of India, Russia, and Indonesia—an honour reflecting his international stature.
Odisha’s Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, Biju Patnaik’s son, described him as the “pride of the Odias,” reaffirming that his ideals remain the guiding force for the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
The party hailed him as a “valiant son of Odisha’s soil,” pledging to carry forward his vision of service and progress.
