PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone for Pandara Fish Market, Unveils Rs 35,000 Cr Farmer Schemes

Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for a sprawling fish market in Pandara, Bhubaneswar, as part of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.

The initiative aims to bolster Odisha’s fisheries infrastructure and empower local fishers through modernised wholesale facilities.

The event also marked the launch of 26 new schemes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, including the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana and the Mission for Self-Reliance in Pulses.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined the ceremony in person.

Addressing the nation, PM Modi commemorated the birth anniversaries of Jayaprakash Narayan and Nanaji Deshmukh, announcing a Rs 35,000 crore investment to benefit crores of farmers.

He emphasised the NDA government’s commitment to agricultural transformation, contrasting it with past administrations’ neglect.

“These schemes will accelerate rural development, reduce maternal mortality, and electrify every school in aspirational districts,” Modi said.

The integrated aqua park and wholesale fish market are expected to create jobs, improve supply chains, and boost Odisha’s seafood exports.
