PM Modi to Launch Rs 60,000 Crore Development Projects in Odisha: Telecom, Railways, IITs, Healthcare & Housing

Jharsuguda — In a landmark visit on September 27, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a Rs 60,000 crore development package aimed at reshaping Odisha’s infrastructure, connectivity, education, healthcare, and skill ecosystem.

The initiative spans multiple sectors and signals a bold push toward inclusive growth and digital empowerment.

Telecom Leap:

Over 97,500 4G towers, including 18,900 under the Digital Bharat Nidhi, will be commissioned to connect 26,700+ remote villages.

Powered by solar energy, this will form India’s largest green telecom cluster, adding 20 lakh+ new subscribers.

Railway Expansion:

PM Modi will lay the foundation for the Sambalpur–Sarla Rail Flyover and dedicate key doubling projects in Koraput. The launch of the Amrit Bharat Express (Berhampur–Udhna) will boost tourism and regional mobility.

Education & Innovation:

Eight IITs across India will be expanded with Rs 11,000 crore investment, adding capacity for 10,000 students and new research parks.

Odisha’s MERITE scheme will upgrade 275 engineering and polytechnic institutes, while 2.5 lakh students will benefit from free Wi-Fi across 130 institutions.

Skill Development Surge:

Phase II of the Odisha Skill Development Project will introduce World Skill Centres in Sambalpur and Berhampur.

Five ITIs will become Utkarsh ITIs, 25 will be upgraded to Centres of Excellence, and a Precision Engineering Building will offer advanced training.

Healthcare & Housing:

MKCG Medical College and VIMSAR will be upgraded into super-speciality hospitals.

Under the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, 50,000 pucca houses will be sanctioned for vulnerable families, reinforcing the government’s commitment to social welfare.
