PM Modi Extends Warm Greetings as Chhath Puja 2025 Begins with ‘Nahay-Khay’

As the sacred four-day Chhath Puja festival begins across India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt wishes to devotees, marking the commencement of celebrations with the ritual of ‘Nahay-Khay’.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote, “With the sacred ritual of Nahay-Khay, the four-day grand festival of Chhath is commencing auspiciously from today. My heartfelt best wishes to devotees across the country, including Bihar. My salutations and homage to all those observing the fast!”

The Prime Minister also reflected on his recent visit to Begusarai, highlighting the cultural significance of Bihar’s folk music and its deep connection to Chhath Puja.

He praised legendary singer Sharda Sinha and other folk artists for enriching the festival through devotional songs dedicated to Chhathi Maiya.

Chhath Puja, primarily celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Nepal, honors the Sun God (Surya) and Goddess Usha. The festival spans four days: Nahay-Khay, Kharna, Sandhya Arghya, and Usha Arghya.

Devotees observe rigorous fasts and perform rituals near rivers and water bodies, emphasizing purity, discipline, and harmony with nature.

PM Modi also shared a curated playlist of devotional songs, encouraging citizens to immerse themselves in the spiritual energy of the festival.
