PM Modi Declares J&K the ‘Crown Jewel’ in India’s Development Vision
Bhubaneshwar, June 6, ( OT Webdesk): In a landmark initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a series of infrastructure projects in Jammu & Kashmir, totalling ₹46,000 crore, reinforcing the government’s commitment to regional development and connectivity.
A highlight of the event was the inauguration of Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway arch bridge, and Anji Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, marking a milestone in railway expansion across the region.
The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Line Project, spanning 272 kilometres, is set to transform regional mobility, integrating Kashmir with the rest of India through a network of tunnels and bridges.
PM Modi also announced a new medical college in Jammu, alongside the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence, aiming to advance healthcare services in the region.
In a strong message, the Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s stance against terrorism, citing Operation Sindoor as a warning to adversaries.
Declaring Jammu & Kashmir the “crown jewel” of India, he emphasised the government’s unwavering focus on economic growth, infrastructure, and security.
