PM Modi Calls Naveen Patnaik, Wishes Him Speedy Recovery Amid Hospitalization
Bhubaneswar, August 20(OT Webdesk): Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Odisha Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday, extending warm wishes for a swift recovery as Patnaik undergoes treatment at SUM Ultimate Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Patnaik was admitted on Sunday evening following a bout of dehydration. Under the supervision of Dr. Alok Panigrahi, his condition has steadily improved, with hospital sources confirming his shift from the observation room to a private cabin.
During their phone conversation, PM Modi expressed concern for Patnaik’s health and advised him to rest adequately before resuming public duties. He also invited Patnaik to visit Delhi once he feels better, signalling a gesture of camaraderie and respect.
In a video message from his hospital bed, Patnaik thanked the medical staff for their care and welcomed well-wishers to visit him at Naveen Niwas. “The staff and doctors are taking wonderful care of me. Thank you for your kind wishes,” he said.
This marks Patnaik’s second major health episode in recent months. On June 22, he underwent spine surgery for cervical arthritis in Mumbai and returned to Bhubaneswar after a 21-day recovery period.
Patnaik remains a towering figure in Odisha politics, and news of his recovery has sparked an outpouring of goodwill from across the political spectrum.
