Bhubaneswar,(Orissa Today), June 12: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with numerous dignitaries, attended the grand swearing-in ceremony of the first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha.
The BJP seized power from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) after an intense and arduous poll campaign spearheaded by PM Modi. During the campaign, the Prime Minister declared that “June 4 was the expiry date of the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha.” He frequently invited the people of Odisha to attend the oath-taking ceremony scheduled for June 10 in Bhubaneswar.
PM Modi, accompanied by senior party leaders, toured extensively across the state, addressing numerous public gatherings. Upon arriving at Bhubaneswar airport around 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, PM Modi proceeded to the Raj Bhawan, the residence of the Odisha Governor. He then traveled in a special motorcade to the swearing-in venue, fulfilling the promise made during his campaign.
Cultural programs lined the route from Raj Bhawan to Janata Maidan as PM Modi’s convoy passed by. The ceremony was also attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, among others. Former Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal President Naveen Patnaik also graced the event.
Additionally, several Chief Ministers, including Yogi Adityanath (Uttar Pradesh), Pramod Sawant (Goa), Bhupendra Patel (Gujarat), Vishnu Deo Sai (Chhattisgarh), Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand), Himanta Biswa Sarma (Assam), Manik Saha (Tripura), Nayab Singh Saini (Haryana), and Bhajan Lal Sharma (Rajasthan), were present to witness the inauguration of the new Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and his council of ministers.
