PM-KISAN 22nd Installment: Odisha Farmers Receive ₹684 Crore, CM Majhi Urges e-KYC & Diversification
Bhubaneswar, March 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 22nd instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme from Guwahati, transferring nearly Rs 19,000 crore to 9.32 crore farmers nationwide. In Odisha, over 34 lakh farmers benefited, receiving Rs 684 crore directly into their accounts.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hailed farmers as the “backbone of the economy” and emphasised the importance of completing e-KYC, Aadhaar-bank linkage, and land record updates to ensure uninterrupted benefits.
He also encouraged diversification beyond paddy cultivation, urging farmers to adopt pulses, fruits, vegetables, and cash crops for sustainable growth.
The CM highlighted Odisha’s own CM-KISAN scheme, which provides an additional Rs 4,000 annually to farmers.
So far, over 51.54 lakh beneficiaries have received Rs 2,991 crore under this initiative. Special support has also been extended to PVTG and urban farmers.
Education support continues through the Krushi Vidya Nidhi scholarships, with 13,923 students receiving Rs 53.67 crore in 2024–25, and 68,915 applications approved for Rs 290 crore in 2025–26.
Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo noted Odisha’s strong crop performance and announced new agricultural colleges in Mayurbhanj and Balangir, along with a fisheries college in Sonepur.
The CM reiterated the state’s commitment to climate-resilient practices, digital solutions, and community-driven approaches to strengthen Odisha’s agricultural future.
