Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: The body of a Plus II student was found on Wednesday morning on the banks of the Katahjodi River, beneath the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Bridge in Cuttack, triggering shock and concern among locals.
The deceased has been identified as Prateek Das, a resident of Niladri Vihar in Bhubaneswar. He had been staying with a relative in the city. According to sources, Prateek had been missing since Tuesday, prompting his worried family members to launch a frantic search after he failed to return home.
Family members stated that Prateek had left home on Tuesday morning, but when he did not come back, they tried contacting him. His phone remained unanswered throughout the day, and by 10:30 pm, it was switched off. Early Wednesday morning, some locals spotted a body under the bridge and alerted the police.
The Markat Nagar police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of death. It remains unclear whether Prateek died by suicide or if foul play was involved. His body has been sent for post-mortem, and further action will be taken based on the report.
