Patient Dies After Fall from Hospital Terrace in Sundargarh; Family Alleges Negligence

Sundargarh, (OT Webdesk)— A tragic incident unfolded at Sundargarh Government Medical College and Hospital on August 26, when a young patient, Anil Soreng from Dainidihi village, fell to his death from the hospital’s third-floor terrace.

Anil had been admitted on Sunday and was reportedly set for discharge on the day of the incident. According to eyewitness accounts, he became restless and wandered to the terrace.

As his mother followed him, Anil turned back, tripped, and clung to the ledge for nearly 30 minutes, crying for help.

Despite his visible distress, no hospital staff responded, and bystanders failed to intervene.

His mother, Ilisaba Soreng, has accused the hospital of medical negligence, stating that timely assistance could have saved her son’s life.

Hospital authorities have yet to release an official statement. The incident has sparked outrage and renewed concerns over patient safety and accountability in public healthcare institutions.
