Paradip Port to Host India’s First Green Hydrogen Jetty

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways has approved a Rs 797.17 crore project to establish a dedicated green hydrogen jetty at Paradip Port in Odisha.

The facility, designed to handle up to 4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), will cater to green hydrogen, ammonia, and other liquid cargo.

The Paradip Port Authority will contribute 20% of the funding, with the project expected to be completed within 24 months.

The infrastructure will include a specialised jetty, pipelines, storage systems, and advanced safety mechanisms.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted that the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat, positioning Paradip as a hub for clean energy logistics and exports.

Beyond green hydrogen, the jetty will initially handle other liquid cargo to maximize utilization.

The project is expected to attract investments, generate employment, and strengthen Odisha’s role in India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission.
