Paradip Emerges as Odisha’s New Growth Engine: CM Majhi Unveils Vision at Kalinga Balijatra

Paradip, Odisha — At the grand inauguration of the Kalinga Balijatra festival in Paradip, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled an ambitious roadmap to transform the port town into a powerhouse of economic, cultural, and infrastructural development.

Calling the Balijatra a “symbol of Odia maritime courage,” Majhi emphasised Paradip’s pivotal role in shaping Odisha’s future.

He announced the development of Paradip as a Green Hydrogen Hub, a strategic move to attract clean energy investments and industrial growth.

To boost tourism, the CM revealed plans for a Rs 500 crore cruise terminal on the Mangala river, alongside the establishment of a greenfield airport, ensuring Paradip is connected by sea, land, and air.

Majhi also outlined a mega metropolitan corridor linking Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Jatani, Cuttack, Paradip, and Puri, aimed at creating an integrated urban-industrial ecosystem. Paradip beach will be developed as a tourism hotspot, and the region will be positioned as a key industrial corridor.

The Balijatra itself is a vibrant blend of tradition and enterprise, with participation from local and national businesses showcasing products and services. The government’s push to empower artisans and expand market access reflects its commitment to inclusive growth.

Majhi hailed the synergy between local, state, and central governance as a “triple engine” driving rapid development.

With major corporations expressing interest in Paradip, the region is poised for unprecedented industrialisation and job creation.
