Panchalingeshwar Temple Closed Indefinitely Amid Torrential Rains in Balasore

Balasore, Odisha — The revered Panchalingeshwar Temple in Odisha’s Balasore district has been shut down indefinitely following relentless rainfall that has battered the region for four consecutive days.

The downpour triggered a forceful water stream from the nearby Debgiri hill, flooding the temple’s Puja Mandap and rendering access to the sacred Shivling unsafe.

Temple authorities, prioritizing public safety, have restricted entry to the premises until conditions stabilize. The fast-moving stream has posed serious hazards, prompting swift action to prevent accidents.

Devotees who had travelled long distances expressed disappointment at being unable to perform darshan. Some were seen offering prayers from a distance, hoping for a quick resumption of temple activities.

Local administration is closely monitoring the situation and has urged the public to avoid risky areas. The temple will reopen only after water levels recede and the site is deemed safe for visitors.
