(OT Webdesk) In a recent development under the Union Government’s directive to identify undocumented foreign nationals, two women of Pakistani origin residing in Odisha have received formal deportation notices.
Rahima Ara, a 50-year-old woman who has lived in Berhampur for over 25 years after marrying an Indian citizen, faces scrutiny over her visa documentation following her husband’s demise. She currently resides with her younger daughter, while her elder daughters have moved out. Local police, acting on central guidelines, have issued a notice asking Rahima to leave the country while her documents undergo thorough verification.
Similarly, Razia Sultana from Balasore district, also married to an Indian, was issued a deportation notice. She reportedly sought clarification from the Balasore Superintendent of Police regarding her legal status when police arrived at her residence to deliver the notice.
These actions reflect intensified enforcement of immigration laws aimed at ensuring foreign nationals live within legal boundaries in India. Authorities have emphasised that all procedures are being conducted lawfully under the Ministry of Home Affairs’ supervision
