Pakistan Shelling Claims Life of Rajouri ADC Amid Border Clashes

Rajouri ADC killed in Pakistani shelling

( OT Webdesk): In a tragic turn of events, Raj Kumar Thappa, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Rajouri, was killed early Saturday morning when a Pakistani shell struck his residence.

The incident comes amid escalating cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir, raising concerns about regional stability.

According to officials, Thappa’s residence was hit around 5:30 AM, shortly after he had entered following nearby explosions.

The shelling has triggered widespread alarm, with civilians and security personnel alike caught in the intensifying conflict.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed Thappa’s death, calling it a “devastating loss” and praising his dedication to administrative service.

“He was actively engaged in governance until last evening. His loss is deeply shocking,” Abdullah posted on X.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Pakistani drones have targeted multiple border points, leading to civilian injuries. Pakistan’s military has alleged that India struck three of its airbases, though no evidence has been provided.

In response to the worsening situation, India has placed its forces on high alert, canceled all leaves for top officials, and suspended civilian flights at 32 airports until May 15 as a precautionary measure.

With tensions continuing to escalate, concerns grow over the impact on diplomatic relations between the two nations, both of which have a history of conflict and fragile peace negotiations.
