Paddy Procurement Begins in 51 Mandis Across Deogarh District
The paddy procurement process for the kharif season has officially commenced in Odisha, beginning with Deogarh district.
This year, procurement will take place in 51 mandis, involving 21,414 registered farmers—an increase from 19,662 last year.
The cultivated area registered has also expanded to 62,747 acres compared to 58,249 acres in the previous season.
To ensure smooth operations, 51 Mandi Nodal Officers and 13 supervising officers have been appointed.
Satellite surveys of all registered fields have been completed, and minimum facilities, including CCTV installations, have been provided at each mandi.
Procurement is also underway in Bargarh, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Subarnapur, and Balangir districts. So far, 305,050 metric tonnes of paddy have been procured from 67,250 farmers.
The state government has disbursed Rs 447.22 crore as Minimum Support Price (MSP) and Rs 138 crore in input assistance.
Payments are being transferred directly to farmers’ accounts within 48 hours through an Aadhaar-linked e-KYC system.
Officials have assured that procurement in other districts will begin in a phased manner, with advance information and tokens issued to farmers.
The government has emphasised its commitment to farmer welfare, food security, and agricultural development through these initiatives.
