In addition to medical screenings, participants will also receive personalised advice on nutrition and dietary diversity.
This initiative is part of a national campaign aimed at providing comprehensive health screenings, nutritional support, and wellness services for women and girls. The campaign will be officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17 in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh and will continue until October 2.
In Odisha, the state-level event will be held at IDCO Grounds in Bhubaneswar, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The event will be attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling and other dignitaries.
Simultaneously, a regional launch event will take place at the Government Medical College in Sundargarh, where union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram is expected to be present.
Both events will be linked to the national launch through video conferencing.
Officials have stated that the campaign’s primary goal is to promote women’s health and nutrition, contributing to the holistic development of women and girls. The initiative will also align with the ongoing efforts under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
The campaign will focus on several health and wellness areas, including nutritional counselling, menstrual hygiene awareness, reduction of oil and sugar intake, obesity prevention, and the promotion of iron-rich foods.
The Odisha government has set an ambitious target to screen the maximum number of beneficiaries across all 30 districts. The screenings will cover hypertension, diabetes, oral, breast, and cervical cancer, anaemia, tuberculosis, sickle cell disease, maternal health, and other NCDs.
Camps will be organised at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, primary health centres (PHCs), urban PHCs (UPHCs), community health centres (CHCs), urban CHCs (UCHCs), and in remote villages.
As part of the initiative, special health measures will include antenatal check-ups for all pregnant women, vaccination drives for girls who are not yet immunised, and free treatment for women and girls suffering from anaemia.
Additionally, blood donation camps will be held across the state on October 1, 2025, in observance of National Blood Donor Day.
To participate, women beneficiaries have been advised to bring their Aadhaar cards, ABHA IDs, or Ayushman cards for registration via the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s mobile application.
Information, education, and communication (IEC) materials have already been distributed across all districts to raise public awareness about the campaign.
The campaign is being led by the State Health Department in collaboration with the Departments of Women and Child Development, ST & SC Development, Minority and Backward Classes Welfare, School and Mass Education, and Mission Shakti.
In the first phase of implementation, women service providers and frontline workers will also be screened to ensure the complete coverage of women employees in both rural and urban areas.
Officials expressed confidence that this landmark initiative will significantly improve women’s health outcomes in Odisha and will play a vital role in contributing to the national goal of building a developed India through healthier, more empowered families.
