OTET Question Paper Leak: Board Vice President Arrested Amid Shocking Breach of Protocol
Cuttack, Aug 3(OT Webdesk): In a major development, the Odisha Crime Branch has arrested Dr. Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, Vice President of the Board of Secondary Education, in connection with the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) question paper leak.
The arrest follows multiple rounds of interrogation and has exposed serious irregularities in the board’s examination protocols.
Investigations revealed that the leaked question papers were found on Mohanty’s personal laptop—an outright violation of board norms.
Instead of using the mandated secure FTP protocol, the printing agency allegedly emailed the question papers directly to Mohanty, bypassing standard procedures.
Further scrutiny uncovered that Mohanty had been involved in confidential tasks beyond his official academic role, including question paper preparation.
Shockingly, his daughter and the wife of another academic officer were reportedly included in the question-setting panel, raising concerns about nepotism and procedural violations.
According to Chapter 11, Clause 15 of the board’s regulations, only the board editor is authorised to handle question paper preparation and distribution.
The breach has reignited debates over long-standing irregularities and a lack of oversight within the board.
The Crime Branch has also arrested six others, including board staffer Jitan Maharana, who was allegedly assigned confidential duties by Mohanty.
The case continues to unfold, with calls for systemic reforms growing louder.
