Orissa HC Flags Irregularities in Subarnapur Home Guard Recruitment

The Orissa High Court has taken serious note of alleged irregularities in the recruitment of Home Guards in Subarnapur district.

Acting on petitions that flagged procedural lapses and favouritism, the court has issued notices to the Superintendent of Police (SP) and other officials involved in the selection process.

According to the petitioners, candidates were chosen from outside the designated police station areas, violating established norms.

A prior notification had announced the recruitment of 92 candidates across the district, but concerns were raised about transparency and fairness in the process.

The High Court emphasised that recruitment must strictly adhere to legal procedures and merit-based selection.

The matter will undergo further judicial scrutiny, with the next hearing scheduled for February 23, 2026.

This case underscores the importance of accountability in government recruitment drives and highlights the judiciary’s role in ensuring fairness in public service appointments.
