Operation Prahara Cracks Down on Drug Trade in Bhubaneswar: Two Peddlers Nabbed in Midnight Raid
In a decisive move against narcotics trafficking, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police launched Operation “Prahara” early Sunday morning, targeting drug networks ahead of the festive season.
Acting on credible intelligence, a team from Infocity Police Station raided Chirgalatola Basti around 1:30 AM, arresting two notorious drug peddlers.
The accused—Sheikh Masum and Chhotu Mandal—were apprehended from Masum’s residence. Police seized 45 grams of brown sugar valued at Rs 4.5 lakh, a country-made 7.65mm pistol with four live rounds, and a mobile phone. Masum has seven prior cases registered across multiple police stations, while Mandal faces three cases at Infocity alone.
Commissionerate Police officials described the arrests as a major breakthrough in their anti-narcotics drive. The seized contraband and weaponry have been sent for forensic analysis, and investigations are underway to trace the broader supply chain.
Authorities have intensified raids across Twin City jurisdictions, signaling a zero-tolerance approach to drug-related crimes.
Operation Prahara marks a renewed commitment to public safety and a proactive stance against the rising tide of narcotics in urban pockets.
