Operation Cyber Kavach: Odisha Police Crack Down on Cybercrime

Odisha Police have intensified their fight against cyber fraud through Operation Cyber Kavach, a statewide drive targeting mule (benami) bank accounts used in scams.

According to official data, 31,498 mule accounts were checked across districts, leading to the registration of 1,090 cyber fraud cases, 34 ATM withdrawal cases, 35 cheque withdrawal cases, and 23 fake SIM/PoS cases.

A total of 328 accused have been arrested so far.

District‑level actions included arrests in Puri and Bhubaneswar, cheque withdrawal cases in Cuttack, and notices issued in Rourkela and several other districts.

Notices were served to 6,532 suspected account holders linked to 183 FIRs.

Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania stated that Odisha Police remain committed to securing digital transactions and pledged to intensify the campaign to build a cybercrime‑free state.
