Operation Cyber Kavach: Odisha Police Busts 32,000+ Mule Accounts, 331 Arrested in Cyber Fraud Crackdown

Odisha Police has launched a sweeping crackdown on cybercrime under Operation Cyber Kavach, verifying 32,932 mule (benami) bank accounts across the state and arresting 331 individuals linked to fraud networks.

The operation, supervised by DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, involves district SPs and DCPs working through their Cyber Crime Units.

Police have registered 1,096 cases tied to mule accounts, alongside ATM withdrawal, cheque fraud, and fake SIM/PoS device cases.

District‑level actions include arrests and notices in Puri, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Nayagarh, and several other districts.

In total, 6,723 suspected account holders and accomplices have been served notices connected to 185 old FIRs.

Authorities say the drive will be intensified further to ensure a cybercrime‑free Odisha, marking one of the largest coordinated cyber fraud crackdowns in the state’s history.
