Operation Cyber Kabach: Odisha Police Crack Down on Mule Accounts
Odisha Police have launched a sweeping campaign against cybercrime under Operation Cyber Kabach, targeting mule (benami) bank accounts used in fraudulent transactions.
Across the state, 9,376 accounts were scrutinised, leading to 216 arrests and 2,758 legal notices across 118 FIRs.
The crackdown exposed fraud schemes involving ATM withdrawals, cheque manipulation, and fake SIM/PoS transactions.
District‑level actions were significant: Bargarh checked 1,146 accounts and issued 1,024 notices, Bhadrak registered 14 cases with 12 arrests, while Khordha filed 8 cases and made 6 arrests.
Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania emphasised that the initiative reflects Odisha Police’s commitment to securing digital transactions and intensifying efforts toward a cybercrime‑free state.
