Om Birla Unveils Bhubaneswar Agenda 2025, Slams Parliamentary Disruptions

Bhubaneswar, August 30: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has strongly criticised deliberate disruptions in Parliament, calling them a threat to democratic integrity.

Speaking at a press conference after a two-day national workshop in Bhubaneswar, Birla urged lawmakers to prioritise constructive debate over protest theatrics.

“Parliament is a forum for high-level discussions, not chaos,” Birla asserted, emphasising equal opportunity for all parties to voice concerns.

His remarks come amid recent opposition protests alleging marginalisation during sessions.

The workshop, held at Lok Seva Bhawan, focused on the welfare of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs). Birla unveiled the “Bhubaneswar Agenda 2025,” a collaborative roadmap between the Centre and states aimed at inclusive development, economic progress, and justice for marginalised communities.

Over 120 delegates—including 14 parliamentary committee chairpersons, 8 MPs, and 100+ state assembly representatives—attended the event.

Thirty-one members presented proposals, with Birla urging states lacking SC/ST welfare committees to establish them promptly.

Education emerged as a cornerstone of empowerment, with dedicated funds allocated by both the Centre and states for SC/ST students.

The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision, emphasising evidence-based monitoring and public accountability.

Birla also lauded Odisha’s cultural heritage, noting the significance of hosting this landmark event—the first of its kind outside Delhi in 25 years.
