Oil India, Odisha Govt Push Ahead with Green Energy Projects
A high‑level delegation from Oil India Ltd, led by Chairman and Managing Director Dr Ranjit Rath, met the Principal Secretary of Housing & Urban Development, Smt. Usha Padhee, at Kharabela Bhawan, to review the progress of six Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants across Odisha.
The meeting focused on project timelines, readiness for commissioning, and integration with municipal waste systems to ensure a steady feedstock supply.
Both sides emphasised the importance of converting urban waste into green energy, aligning with Odisha’s clean energy and circular economy vision.
Smt. Padhee reiterated the government’s commitment to sustainable waste‑to‑energy models that reduce landfill burdens while creating local economic value.
Oil India expressed confidence in achieving milestones and reaffirmed its partnership with the department.
The discussion concluded with an agreement to expedite coordination between Oil India and urban local bodies, ensuring the timely commissioning of the CBG plants.
This initiative is expected to significantly contribute to Odisha’s green growth agenda. Additional Secretary Sri Binaya Kumar Dash also attended the meeting.
