Odisha’s Tribal Villages Get a Boost with 5,500 New Action Plans

In a landmark move to empower tribal communities, the Odisha government marked Gandhi Jayanti by approving over 5,500 Village Action Plans under the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan.

This initiative, launched under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, aims to provide essential services in remote villages while fostering inclusive and accountable governance.

Special Gram Sabhas were convened across tribal regions, where community members actively participated in planning through discussions and mapping exercises.

The campaign spans 7,623 villages across 213 blocks in 22 districts, supported by a massive mobilisation of 1 lakh Aadi Saathis and 30,000 Aadi Sahyogis. Over 50 NGOs and civil society organisations have joined hands to ensure effective implementation.

On October 2, the state inaugurated 6,255 Aadi Seva Kendras, which will serve as local hubs for service delivery and coordination.

These centres symbolise a shift toward decentralised governance, enabling tribal populations to shape their development journey independently.

The Abhiyan is part of the broader Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh initiative and reflects the values of Seva (service), Samarpan (dedication), and Sankalp (resolve) in public administration.

Multi-departmental convergence ensures that government schemes reach the last mile efficiently, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to tribal empowerment and grassroots development.
