Bhubaneswar (Orissa Today), Mar 16: Ramakant Rath, the creator of Sriradha and a renowned poet of Odisha, is no more. He passed away in Bhubaneswar at the age of 90 after a prolonged illness. Reports indicate that his last rites will be performed after his son returns from Singapore.
His demise has cast a shadow of grief over the literary world.
The esteemed poet Ramakant Rath was born in Cuttack on December 13, 1934. He graduated from Ravenshaw College with a degree in English language and literature before joining the Indian Civil Services in 1957.
Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Ramakant Rath, often regarded as the father of modern Odia literature.
