Odisha’s First Visa Application Centre to Open at BSABT, Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar is set to host Odisha’s first Visa Application Centre, marking a major milestone in the state’s global connectivity.

The facility will be established at the Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bus Terminal (BSABT), Baramunda, under a tripartite agreement between the Home Department, Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), and VFS Global.

Spread across 3,000 sq. ft., the centre will provide visa services locally, saving residents the time and expense of travelling to Kolkata, Delhi, or Hyderabad.

Approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in December 2025, the centre is expected to become operational soon.

Parallel to this, BDA has signed an agreement with the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) to lease 77,000 sq. ft. of space at BSABT, which will be sub-leased to IT and ITeS companies.

With these developments, BSABT—already Odisha’s largest bus terminal handling over 1,500 buses and 20,000 passengers daily—is evolving into a modern integrated transport and business hub.

BDA Vice-Chairman Chanchal Rana described the initiative as a “game-changer,” predicting increased footfall and significant benefits for vendors and stakeholders.
