Cannes, France ( OT Webdesk)— In a historic moment for Odisha’s film industry, the motion poster of Baghuni (Dance Like a Tiger), an upcoming Odia film directed by Jitendra Mishra, was unveiled at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2025.
Hosted at the Bharat Pavilion, an initiative by the Government of India at the Marché du Film, the event marked a new era for regional cinema on the world stage.
This groundbreaking co-production unites the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), Glocal Films UK Limited (founded by Odisha-born producer Partha Panda), and Cinema4Good Pvt. Ltd., signalling NFDC’s return to Odisha’s film industry after over two decades.
Speaking at the launch, Mishra emphasised the film’s deep cultural significance, stating that Baghuni highlights the essence of Odisha’s storytelling and artistic heritage.
“This film stands as a tribute to our traditions while embracing a global cinematic language,” Mishra said.
With Odisha’s film industry making a bold leap onto the international platform, Baghuni is expected to captivate audiences worldwide, paving the way for more Odia stories to earn global recognition.
