Odisha:Record 78.48 percent voter turnout in Nuapada Assembly by-Poll

Bhubaneswar, Nov 11 (UNI) The Nuapada Assembly by-poll in Odisha witnessed a record voter turnout of 78.48 percent, according to data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Polling began at 7 a.m. across 358 booths and continued peacefully until 5 p.m., CEO office sources said.

All helicopters carrying polling personnel have returned safely, and polling was successfully concluded at all 165 polling stations.

The by-poll featured a multi-cornered contest with 14 candidates. However, the main battle for votes is expected to be among BJP’s Jay Dholakia, BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria, and Congress’s Ghasiram Majhi.

The counting of votes is scheduled for November 14.
