Odisha Worker Kidnapped by Sudanese Paramilitary, Family Appeals for Rescue
Bhubaneswar, Nov 4: Adarsh Behera, a 36-year-old factory worker from Jagatsinghpur, Odisha, has reportedly been kidnapped by Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF amid escalating civil unrest in the region.
A video circulating online shows Behera seated between armed RSF members, one of whom mockingly asks, “Do you know Shah Rukh Khan?”—a moment that has sparked widespread concern across India.
Behera had been working at the Sukarati Plastic Factory in Al Fashir, Sudan, for the past three years to support his wife and two young sons.
His family, devastated by the news, has issued urgent appeals to both the Odisha government and the Ministry of External Affairs for swift diplomatic intervention.
Sudan’s Ambassador to India, Mohammed Abdalla Ali Eltom, confirmed that efforts are underway to secure Behera’s release, describing the situation in Sudan as “very unpredictable.” The Indian government is coordinating with Sudanese authorities to expedite the rescue mission.
Behera’s family remains hopeful, urging authorities to act quickly to ensure his safe return. The incident has reignited concerns over the safety of Indian workers in conflict zones abroad.
