Odisha Water Resources Department Fast‑Tracks Key Projects Ahead of Monsoon
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Construction Corporation Limited (OCCL) held a crucial review meeting chaired by Principal Secretary Shubha Sarma to assess progress on major water resource projects before the onset of monsoon.
Senior officials, including OCCL Managing Director Er. Bighnaraj Purohit and Chief Engineers joined the session to evaluate timelines, budget allocations, and field performance.
The meeting emphasised administrative efficiency, regular evaluation of outsourced personnel, and intensified field visits.
Key directives included expediting the Kanpur and Suktel projects to ensure timely water impoundment, prioritising dam gate works to avoid rainy season delays, and reviewing in‑stream storage structures across multiple rivers to boost irrigation capacity.
The initiatives underscore Odisha’s commitment to sustainable water management and agricultural support, reinforcing the state’s focus on timely infrastructure development.
