Odisha Water Resources Department Accelerates Irrigation Projects with Tech-Driven Fund Utilisation
Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: The Odisha Water Resources Department has intensified efforts to fast-track irrigation development across the state.
In a high-level review meeting chaired by Principal Secretary Shubha Sarma, IAS, senior officials were directed to prioritise faster clearances, streamline tender processes, and expedite execution of ongoing projects to ensure timely benefits for farmers.
The department emphasised effective utilisation of allocated funds to maximise irrigation coverage, while adopting modern technologies for transparency and efficiency.
Plans include strengthening data acquisition mechanisms, establishing online monitoring systems, conducting independent impact assessments, and implementing SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) technology across projects.
Officials pledged coordinated action to bolster Odisha’s water infrastructure, underscoring the government’s commitment to sustainable agricultural growth and improved livelihoods for farmers.
